How your nib Travel Insurance is calculated
Premiums are calculated taking into consideration your planned destinations, the travel plan chosen, your age and the duration of your trip along with any additional premium for Existing Medical Conditions and any chosen options. When getting a quote, you must select all the destinations or region(s) that you are travelling to. Stopovers of 72 hours or less do not need to be listed on the certificate of insurance.
Are You Already Overseas ? No problem
Already overseas and finding it hard to obtain travel insurance. We have helped many Australians over the years to secure travel insurance for the remainder of their trip overseas before returning home to Australia.
Many travel insurers are reluctant to extend the travel insurance policy that you originally bought in Australia. Or if you have overlooked the expiry date your insurer cannot sell you a new policy. nib Travel Insurance can offer you either their Comprehensive Plan or Essentials Plan with the option to extend your cover if needed. You must be returning to Australia.
If you have already started travelling, there is a 72 hour waiting period for all sections of the policy from the time you purchase a policy. However, if after the trip departure date noted on your Certificate of Insurance and before the end of the 72 hour waiting period you suffer an injury as a result of an accident, cover as per the conditions of Medical expenses and Medical evacuation and repatriation begins from the time of the accident of that injury. It goes without saying that in this current climate you will have to be careful where you travel and make sure you abide by any government’s travel restrictions that may be in place.
So all you need to do if you’d like to purchase a policy please click on the detailed quote button above and complete the details we ask for. In the comments section, mention you are already overseas and just give us a summary of your current and future travelling scenario. We will then email you an accurate quote and include relevant information that you need to consider before purchasing a policy,
Existing Medical Conditions
If you have any existing medical condition(s) and you want them covered you will need to have them assessed by the insurer. If approved your Existing medical conditions, will be listed on the policy as a specified medical condition and cover is available for claims arising from your specified medical condition(s) in the event that you need to cancel your travel arrangements. Cover may be available for medical and hospital expenses whilst you travel if you suffer a medical event during your trip related to your existing medical conditions. For further details of the existing medical conditions assessment process and how to go about getting approval please visit the Existing Medical Conditions page on our website.
